The study aimed to identify the extent of availability of the total quality standards in the practicum program in the College of Education at Ibb ‘niversity from the viewpoint of teacher students. It also aimed to examine the differences among teacher students attributed to the variables of gender, specialization and overall average. A questionnaire of 64 items was prepared and distributed on seven domains: the objectives and planning of the program, content of the program, the role of practicum administration, the role of monitoring, the role of cooperating teacher. the role of school manager, and evaluation of the program. The sample of the study consisted of 253 final year students. The mean scores, standard deviation, ”t" test and one way ANOVA were used. The results of the study revealed that the degree of availability of the total quality standards of the practicum program was medium. However, the findings indicated that there were significant differences between male and female participants in favor of females, in addition, there were no significant differences among teacher students attributed to the variables of specialization and overall averag

    What's Decidable About Sequences?

We present a first-order theory of sequences with integer elements, Presburger arithmetic, and regular constraints, which can model significant properties of data structures such as arrays and lists. We give a decision procedure for the quantifier-free fragment, based on an encoding into the first-order theory of concatenation; the procedure has PSPACE complexity. The quantifier-free fragment of the theory of sequences can express properties such as sortedness and injectivity, as well as Boolean combinations of periodic and arithmetic facts relating the elements of the sequence and their positions (e.g., "for all even i's, the element at position i has value i+3 or 2i"). The resulting expressive power is orthogonal to that of the most expressive decidable logics for arrays. Some examples demonstrate that the fragment is also suitable to reason about sequence-manipulating programs within the standard framework of axiomatic semantics.Comment: Fixed a few lapses in the Mergesort exampl

Factors influencing academic achievement: the mediating role of motivation in learning strategies and school climate

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT The main objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between learning strategies, motivation, school climate and academic performance and establish which are the best predictors of this performance. We have used a sample of 101 students of 4 º ESO center of Granada and Malaga, who were administered the CEAM II, to measure learning strategies and motivation, and the CECSCE to measure school climate. Results indicate that high scores on learning strategies, increased motivation and improved school climate are related to better academic performance. In turn, results show that the factors that predict academic performance are the assessment of the task and self-efficacy (motivation), organization and effort (learning strategies) and perception of school (school climate). Finally, we observe that motivation has a mediating role between learning strategies and school climate on student achievement. The main objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between learning strategies, motivation, school climate and academic performance and establish which are the best predictors of this performance. The frailty syndrome has recently attracted attention of the scientific community and public health organizations as precursor and contributor of age-related conditions (particularly disability) in older persons. in parallel, dementia and cognitive disorders also represent major healthcare and social priorities. although physical frailty and cognitive impairment have shown to be related in epidemiological studies, their pathophysiological mechanisms have been usually studied separately. an international Consensus Group on “Cognitive Frailty” was organized by the international academy on nutrition and aging (i.a.n.a) and the international association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (i.a.G.G) on april 16th, 2013 in toulouse (France). the present report describes the results of the Consensus Group and provides the first definition of a “Cognitive Frailty” condition in older adults. specific aim of this approach was to facilitate the design of future personalized preventive interventions in older persons. Finally, the Group discussed the use of multidomain interventions focused on the physical, nutritional, cognitive and psychological domains for improving the well-being and quality of life in the elderly. the consensus panel proposed the identification of the so-called “cognitive frailty” as an heterogeneous clinical manifestation characterized by the simultaneous presence of both physical frailty and cognitive impairment. in particular, the key factors defining such a condition include: 1) presence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment (Cdr=0.5); and 2) exclusion of concurrent ad dementia or other dementias. under different circumstances, cognitive frailty may represent a precursor of neurodegenerative processes. a potential for reversibility may also characterize this entity. a psychological component of the condition is evident and concurs at increasing the vulnerability of the individual to stressors

Functions for the General Solution of Parametric Word Equations

    : In this article we introduce the functions Fi (x 1 , x 2 ) l1,..., ls and Th (x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) i l1,..., l2s (i = 1, 2, 3), of the word variables x i and of the natural number variables li, where s ³ 0. By means of these functions, we give exactly the general solution (i.e. the set of all the solutions) of the first basic parametric equation: x 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 = x 3 x 1 l x 2 x 5 , in a free monoid. 1. Introduction The following four parametric equations: x 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 = x 3 x 1 l x 2 x 5 , x 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 = x 2 x 3 l x 1 x 5 , x 1 x 2 2 x 3 x 4 = x 3 x 1 2 x 2 x 5 , x 1 x 2 l+1 x 3 x 4 = x 3 x 2 µ+1 x 1 x 5 , in a free monoid, are called basic equations. They arise in the graph of the prefixeequations in free monoid (cf. [2], [3]) and play an important role in the hierarchy of the parametric equations, in reason of the structures of their solutions. In particular, the general solution of any equation in a free monoid of the form F(x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) x 4 = Y(x 1 , x 2 , ..

Wavelet Completed Local Ternary Pattern (WCLTP) for Texture Image Classification

    Get PDF
In this paper, a new texture descriptor inspired from Completed Local Ternary Pattern (CLTP) is proposed and investigated for texture image classification task. A wavelet-CLTP (WCLTP) is proposed by integrating the CLTP with the redundant discrete wavelet transform (RDWT). Firstly, the images are decomposed using RDWT into four sub-bands. Then, the CLTP are extracted from the LL sub-bands coefficients of the image. The RDWT is selected due to its advantages. Unlike the other wavelet transform, the RDWT decompose the images into the same size sub-bands. So, the important textures in the image will be at the same spatial location in each sub-band. As a result, more accurate capturing of the local texture within RDWT domain can be done and the exact measure of local texture can be used. The proposed WCLTP is evaluated for rotation invariant texture classification task. The experimental results using CURTex and Outex texture databases show that the proposed WCLTP outperformed the CLBP and CLBC descriptors and achieved an impressive classification accuracy. Furthermore, the WCLTP outperformed the CLTP in Outex and many cases in the CURTex databases

    Towards parametrizing word equations

Classically, in order to resolve an equation u ≈ v over a free monoid X*, we reduce it by a suitable family F\cal F of substitutions to a family of equations uf ≈ vf, fFf\in\cal F, each involving less variables than u ≈ v, and then combine solutions of uf ≈ vf into solutions of u ≈ v. The problem is to get F\cal F in a handy parametrized form. The method we propose consists in parametrizing the path traces in the so called graph of prime equations associated to u ≈ v. We carry out such a parametrization in the case the prime equations in the graph involve at most three variables
